After going to Publix today to see if they did have a free one-year-old cake I wasn't too surprised that I need to purchase a full size cake first.
So, scratch that idea!
I am now excited over the thought of making a cake for Winston. I not going to do some serious decorating. I just want to do a little mini chocolate cake with fresh whip cream that is slightly sweetened. I'm sorta glad that the Publix cake didn't work out ;P
We are still contemplating what to buy Winnie for a present. And I think we have decided on getting him a Teddy Bear. I am hoping to find one that is Winston's size. Something for him to squeeze and hold. He loves, loves, LOVES to squeeze the cat. Hopefully this will help!
I am sure the cat will be thankful!
Our close friend Roxy told me the other day that she had found out what the name Winnie means. We often call Winston Winnie and she happened to hear the meaning of it. She told me it means peace maker and bringer of peace.
He is my little peace! His gentle spirit and nature has filled me till my heart is bursting with love.
Thank your Roxy, we love you!

Oh how funny you have to buy a cake first. What a bummer, but I am glad you get to make your own! I love seeing you bake!

Your Dad and I have been cozily sitting here in bed drinking our coffee and devouring our children's blogs and the delightful pictures of our grandchildren. We loved your post... posts sweetie. We are sitting here talking about little Winnie's birthday (My heart bore witness when I heard the meaning of his name... so fitting and true). We are thinking about what little Winnie should have for his 1st B-day. We long to be there. If we only had that plane....
Love you so much sweetie,
Mom
I, too, am glad that you'll get to make the cake for his first birthday. Silly, I guess, that it makes me glad. :) But I always take delight in making cakes for my sons' birthdays and see it as a labor of love. I don't do any fancy decorating, mind you! But they are yummy...and besides, as the boys have gotten older, they love the process of making the cake with me.
The other silly, sentimental thing I do is write in my cookbook when I use a particular recipe for a birthday or special event. That way, I can look back and see that, for example, "oh yes, I made Golden Carrot Cake for Josiah's first birthday, too!" :) And then it brings back such a flood of memories...
Hello Elizabeth,
I have had the opportunity this morning to sit and get caught up with some blogging...I have been very blessed and renewed visiting with friends...
The Lord obviously had a better idea in mind and that was to begin the Building of fond Birthday Cake Memories...I am sure what He will inspire you with will be more delightful and Meaningful than any store bought cake...
First Birthday's are always such a sweet time...
We are soon aproaching are Benjamin's first birthday and the family is already making plans and the excitment is ever present...
May his Birthday be a blessing and may it be filled with great joy...
In Christ

I bet your cat will be grateful for Winnie to have special Teddy to hug. I know our kitty Fitzgerald is thankful for Elizabeth to have her special stuffed Doggy to hug, Otherwise our poor kitty would be hidding from her:)
Oh yum, your idea for Winston's cake sounds far nicer than a ready made one would be!
Look forward to seeing the pics ♥
Yeah!!. Love the cake. It should make for a wonderfully, messy first birthday. Those are the best. Just make sure Winnie leaves daddy and mommy just a little bite. :)
