Traditions......

Whenever I say the word tradition, the Fiddler On The Roof song comes into my head :P

I was so happy to hear that Marie had gotten all the ingredients for our favorite Frog Eyed Salad the other day. Has anyone ever had Frog Eyed Salad before? My Mom would faithfully make it every year and we were always pleased to see that she made enough to last a couple days after Thanksgiving ;).

All it is, is tiny Acini Di Pepe macaroni cooked until soft then you mix in Whipped Cream, Vanilla Pudding, Mandarin Oranges, crushed Pineapple. Put it in a beautiful glass bowl and it looks lovely and tastes DELICIOUS! :) We would only have it on Thanksgiving :)

Does anyone want to share their special favorite traditional dish that they have on Thanksgiving?

My favorite is our family stuffing... too long to try and post here though (don't really feel like it lol!!) It IS the smell of thanksgiving for me!!... I also love my Grandma's sweet potatoe casserole, no marshmallows on top it's topped with a pecan topping. so yummy!!

I have never heard of Frog Eyed Salad. The name certainly isn't appetizing, but your description of it sounds yummy. :)

I love our family's recipe for cranberry salad. It's just raw cranberries and apples with lots of sugar and whipped cream on top--simple but so good. I just made some tonight for our celebration tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

The Frog Eyed Salad sounds good Elizabeth. My favorite every year would have to be the stuffing! It is a bacis recipe but what makes it woundeful is when it is truelly stuffing. The casserale made with water I do not care for so much. When I need to make more stuffing then the turkey broth will go, I cook a chicken the week before and save the broth in the freezer and then use that for the casseral stuffing.
