Isaiah 61

I love this chapter of Isaiah. You find it in chapter 61:1 Then later in Luke chapter 4:17 Jesus quotes this same part right out of Isaiah. Proclaiming himself.

Isaiah 61:1, "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion-
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."

In Luke 4:17, The scroll  of the prophet of Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

18 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

Later in verse 21 he says, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

I love this scripture and how Jesus fulfilled its meanings. He literally fulfilled its meanings and continues today.

I have had such a nice day of reading and studying. It has been a long time since I have had one of these days. I have also been reading a book by Derek Prince on Fasting. It was really encouraging and simple. If I am going to be fasting, I want it to be effective. What a waste if I am misapplying it! :)

No news yet on Benjamin, they postponed his meeting on Tuesday and hopefully he will hear something tonight. Since they postponed it, I am wondering if they really have his specific job, they may just be trying to bring up their numbers and offer him something else. Then again I don't know! :) I will post as soon as I can! :P
