Stockings

My sister Ruthie, has been making stockings recently. She has done such a nice job and it really inspires me to pick up sewing again. We both have decided to take a class together at Joanne's fabric store. I am getting really excited about it. =)
We are progressing on our baby blankets that we are crocheting, but I have noticed recently that my blanket has started to decrees on the side! GREAT! Now I have to go back AGAIN and try to figure out what I did wrong =)! The pattern is so simple, but I keep messing up on the number of stitches. Maybe I should try another pattern? Oh well, its a lot of fun and I have enjoyed doing it with Ruthie. =)

How cute Ruthie! Wish I was there to go to the sewing class with you... and to have you teach me to crochet!

I know Himilce! That would be SO much fun if we could all go to the sewing class together! Yes, I would love to teach you to crochet! I am not that good myself though. =)

The stocking looks great! You girls are very talented with your sewing and crocheting!

I used to crochet, but I could never finish a baby blanket because it inevitably turned into a fan-shaped item, rather than a rectangle. My mother urged me to make my first row(s) of stitches very loose so that I wouldn't have that problem, but it never worked. Each succeeding row got bigger and bigger. Oh, well...maybe one of these days I'll try again!

I hope you have better success than I did! (Somehow I'm pretty sure you will...) :)

Most likely the probelm is the turn on your corners. Depending on the kind of stich you are doing you will need to make sure that you are chain sticking up anywhere from 1 to 3 stiches up before you turn the blanket and start on a new row. Does that make any sense? Call me if that doesn't help, maybe I could talk you through it. Good luck!
