Goodbyes

~Waiting :)

~Last Sunday at church together

Yesterday was the day to say goodbye to my Benjamin. It was such a nice day though. I got to be with him for the whole day while he had to go through the whole process, being sworn in again and signing his contract. He also had to do more tests and exams. We were there for over eight hours. I was very happy, being able to be with him longer than I first had thought! Then we finally went to the airport. They gave me a pass to go with him to his gate. I was so proud of myself! I didn't show him any tears! I knew if I started crying, it would be that much harder for him to leave. I saved them for the car. He was able to call me that night and let me know he had made it safely! So now I have about 9 weeks to wait and see him, which I am praying they will go by fast! :) I posted some pictures of Sunday at our evening service and of yesterday waiting all day! :)

Tomorrow marks nine weeks pregnant. I am feeling better thankfully! Not near as much nausea and smellies! :P I had a lot of fun today, I went over to Whole Foods and bought some good prenatales and calcium/magnesium. Then I had fun getting some healthy fresh yogurt and REALLY fresh milk! The milk is in the glass bottle and everything! :P We have a great Whole Foods here. I am going to miss it when we move.

I will try to get some more posts out. I have fallen behind again! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I can't believe its July tomorrow! :P

June 25...

What a beautiful cloudy day it is today. We don't get many of those in Scottsdale/Phoenix! It changes the whole feel of our place and brings back memories doing our school at the table with my mom and it being beautifully cloudy out. We heard some exciting news last night that Marie  went into labor! Zane Wesley Marius was born 2:30 A.M. this morning! He weighs 9 lbs 8 oz and 21 inc long! What a big boy! They both are healthy and doing well. She will be posting pictures soon on her page. Praise the Lord! :)

Packing and Packing and.......

We have been busy packing this last week. Benjamin ships out now in just eleven short days! We decided to put all of our belongings into storage until he is finished and we find out where we will be stationed. And that wont be for another three months. So putting everything in storage will help us save some money and I wont be all by myself here. It has been so very very nice living in this condo. I am having a hard time packing up everything. On the nice side, I get to go and stay with the family! First I am going up to visit my Grandma in Henderson Nevada and see her new house. Then my parents and sibling in Colorado. And then up to Ohio to see Jon and Marie and of course the NEW baby! :) God is so good. He has blessed us bountifully and I feel our cup overflowing.
Happy Monday everyone!

Week 6

Week 6 and 2 days. Feeling really well for the most part. I have lots of cramps throughout the day, which is what made me think I was pregnant in the first place. I had never had so many cramps for so many days in a row and no cycle was starting! And so I became very suspicious! :P I am still feeling a lot of cramping and I am getting an empty stomach so much faster! :) No bump in the picture of course. But I wanted to be able and look back and see what I look like at this stage of pregnancy for future reference! My mom had encouraged me to look up and see how the baby is developing during this stage. I have loved learning about it! So amazing and exciting. :)

Bay Episodes....

~ He loves having his picture taken!

~He's wondering what's for dinner :)

~ His favorite place when I am doing laundry.

I have all of these pictures that I keep meaning to post and I get behind. There was so many to choose from! I will just start with these for now. I don't have as many of Tonia, because she is shy of the camera :) I try my best to sneak one on her. If I get some really nice ones of her then I will start doing Tonia Episodes as well! :P

So Happy

I Can't stop smiling......

Psalm 127:3-5

3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD,
children a reward from him.

4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are sons born in one's youth.

5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their enemies in the gate.

Guess What...

Benjamin and I are having a baby! The little one should be here around the first week of February! I plan on going to the doctor in a couple of weeks and we shall see how far a long I am. I believe I am almost six weeks pregnant! We feel so blessed and thankful to the Lord for this blessing!

                    ~This is the bride/groom cake.

Well, I did it! 120 cupcakes and two 6 inch cakes later. :P I am very blessed and thankful that my mom happened to be in town this week. Because my brother and his wife Himilce had their baby! I have been waiting to post about it. But I wanted to give Himilce the opertunity to post first. Asher Lane Phelps is the sweetest little baby I have ever seen! And he is an angel of a baby as well!

My mom has been in town helping out with her newest grand baby and she was able to help me out as well! She gave me so much encouragement and enthusiasm over it all :)
On thursday I went over to my sister Himilce's house, and we spent the day making fondant flowers. It was SO much fun! :) When I was ready to place the fondant flowers on the cakes, I used a silver edible sparkle dust on each flower and then mini white edible beads for the middle. The fondant is a homemade recipe that I got from Marie's friend Julie. It works so well I love it.

The bride wanted a yellow cake with white frosting. Her colors were clover green, silver and black. Its very hard to use black in frosting, so I just used black ribbon. I found the yellow cake recipe online and it turned out very nice! It called for shortening and I used butter instead. I put the recipe at the bottom for my sake and for anyone else who might need a good yellow cake recipe!

The wedding was yesterday (Friday) I baked ALL day on Thursday and then made the buttercream frosting and decorated on friday. It did take the whole day for both jobs, but it was extremely exciting and fun. I definitely want to do this again! I am going to find out the schedule for the next wilton class on wedding cakes! It was great!

I will post the final picture of the cakes set up on the tower. I wasn't able to get a good picture. I am going to ask the bride to send me one of her professional pictures when she get them in. :)

Homemade Pudding.....

I found this delicious recipe online and it is so easy and so tasty! It tastes very british. Which, I really like. Not too sweet and just the right texture! I found the recipe at cooks.com

1 c. sugar
1/3 c. flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. milk

Mix sugar and flour together then add eggs and milk. Heat until boils, mixing constantly. Then remove and add vanilla. Pour into bowl to cool and serve.

To make chocolate pudding, add 2 tablespoons cocoa powder to sugar and flour mixture.

Memorial Day.....

~ "So by this time some of the Germans from on the hill was shooting at us. Well I was giving them the best I had, and by this time the Germans had got their machine guns turned around and fired on us. So they killed 6 and wounded 3 of us. So that just left 8, and then we got into it right by this time. So we had a hard battle for a little while--

I don't know whether it was the German major, but one yelled something out in German that we couldn't understand. And then the machine guns on top swung around and opened fire on us. There were about thirty of them. They were commanding us from a hillside less than thirty yards away. They couldn't miss. And they didn't!

They killed all of Savage's squad; they got all of mine but two; they wounded Cutting and killed two of his squad; and Early's squad was well back in the brush on the extreme right and not yet under the direct fire of the machine guns, and so they escaped. All except Early. He went down with three bullets in his body. That left me in command. I was right out there in the open.

And those machine guns were spitting fire and cutting down the undergrowth all around me something awful. And the Germans were yelling orders. You never heard such a 'racket in all of your life. I didn't have time to dodge behind a tree or dive into the brush, I didn't even have time to kneel or lie down.

I don't know what the other boys were doing. They claim they didn't fire a shot. They said afterwards they were on the right, guarding the prisoners. And the prisoners were lying down and the machine guns had to shoot over them to get me. As soon as the machine guns opened fire on me, I began to exchange shots with them.

I had no time nohow to do nothing but watch them-there German machine gunners and give them the best I had. Every time I seed a German I jes teched him off. At first I was shooting from a prone position; that is lying down; jes like we often shoot at the targets in the shooting matches in the mountains of Tennessee; and it was jes about the same distance. But the targets here were bigger. I jes couldn't miss a German's head or body at that distance. And I didn't. Besides, it weren't no time to miss nohow.

I knowed that in order to shoot me the Germans would have to get their heads up to see where I was lying. And I knowed that my only chance was to keep their heads down. And I done done it. I covered their positions and let fly every time I seed anything to shoot at. Every time a head come up I done knocked it down. Then they would sorter stop for a moment and then another head would come up and I would knock it down, too. I was giving them the best I had.

I was right out in the open and the machine guns [there were over thirty of them in continuous action] were spitting fire and cutting up all around me something awful. But they didn't seem to be able to hit me. All the time the Germans were shouting orders. You never heard such a racket in all of your life. Of course, all of this only took a few minutes. As soon as I was able I stood up and begun to shoot off-hand, which is my favorite position. I was still sharpshooting with that-there old army rifle. I used up several clips. The barrel was getting hot and my rifle ammunition was running low, or was where it was hard for me to get at it quickly. But I had to keep on shooting jes the same.

In the middle of the fight a German officer and five men done jumped out of a trench and charged me with fixed bayonets. They had about twenty-five yards to come and they were coming right smart. I only had about half a clip left in my rifle; but I had my pistol ready. I done flipped it out fast and teched them off, too.

I teched off the sixth man first; then the fifth; then the fourth; then the third; and so on. That's the way we shoot wild turkeys at home. You see we don't want the front ones to know that we're getting the back ones, and then they keep on coming until we get them all. Of course, I hadn't time to think of that. I guess I jes naturally did it. I knowed, too, that if the front ones wavered, or if I stopped them the rear ones would drop down and pump a volley into me and get me.

Then I returned to the rifle, and kept right on after those machine guns. I knowed now that if I done kept my head and didn't run out of ammunition I had them. So I done hollered to them to come down and give up. I didn't want to kill any more'n I had to. I would tech a couple of them off and holler again. But I guess they couldn't understand my language, or else they couldn't hear me in the awful racket that was going on all around. Over twenty Germans were killed by this time.

--and I got hold of the German major. After he seed me stop the six Germans who charged with fixed bayonets he got up off the ground and walked over to me and yelled "English?"

I said, "No, not English."

He said, "What?"

I said, "American."

He said, "Good -----!" Then he said, "If you won't shoot any more I will make them give up." I had killed over twenty before the German major said he would make them give up. I covered him with my automatic and told him if he didn't make them stop firing I would take off his head next. And he knew I meant it. He told me if I didn't kill him, and if I stopped shooting the others in the trench, he would make them surrender.

So he blew a little whistle and they came down and began to gather around and throw down their guns and belts. All but one of them came off the hill with their hands up, and just before that one got to me he threw a little hand grenade which burst in the air in front of me.

I had to tech him off. The rest surrendered without any more trouble. There were nearly 100 of them."

The Joy Of The Lord......

But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
       Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
